RPPt Pagliligtas sa mga biktima ng human trafficking sa KOJC pinuri ng mambabatas, nanawagan sa pagpapanagot sa lahat ng mga sangkot sa krimen

Pinuri ni House Deputy Majority Leader at PBA Party-list Rep. Margarita 'Atty. Migs' Nograles ang Philippine National Police (PNP) at ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 11 sa kanilang pagliligtas sa dalawang hinihinalang biktima ng human trafficking sa loob ng Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound sa Davao City. 

Kinondena rin ni Nograles ang sinumang magtatanggol sa mga karumal-dumal na krimeng nagaganap sa loob religious compound.

Ang rescue operation ay isinagawa kasabay ng paghahain ng warrant of arrest laban sa lider ng KOJC na si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy at mga kapwa akusado nito na nahaharap sa kasong child abuse, sexual abuse at human trafficking.

“I applaud the PNP and DSWD for their decisive action in rescuing these young individuals from what appears to be a deeply troubling situation. The safety and well-being of our citizens, especially the most vulnerable, must always be a top priority,” ani Nograles. 

“However, I also strongly condemn anyone who attempts to defend or downplay the severity of these crimes. Human trafficking is a grave violation of human rights, and those responsible, including any accomplices, must be held accountable,” dagdag pa niya.

Binigyan-diin ni Nograles na seryoso ang mga krimen na isinampa laban sa mga akusado at dapat managot ang lahat ng sangkot.

"Human trafficking is not something to be dismissed or ignored. Allowing it to happen within one’s premises is serious, but being complicit in such heinous acts is an even graver offense. Pastor Quiboloy did not act alone—we must ask: Who are his accomplices? Those managing the property, those aware of its operations, and those who allowed such crimes against humanity to occur?," ayon pa kay Nograles.

Ang dalawang hinihinalang biktima, ay isang 21-taong gulang na lalaki mula sa Samar at isang babae mula sa Midsayap, Cotabato. Ayon sa mga ulat pinipigilan umanong lumabas ang mga ito sa KOJC compound. 

Isinagawa ang pag-rescue matapos na humingi ng tulong ang mga kaanak ng mga biktima sa pulisya.

“This incident is alarming and underscores the need for a thorough investigation into the operations within the KOJC compound. I urge the authorities to leave no stone unturned in this investigation and to ensure that justice is served swiftly and fairly,” ayon kay Nograles.

Bukod sa panawagan na imbestigahan ng Kongreso ang insidente, hinimok din ni Nograles ang Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), sa pangunguna ng Department of Justice (DOJ) at pakikipagtulungan ng DSWD bilang co-chair, na tiyakin na mapapanagot ang mga may sala at mapoprotektahan ang mga biktima ng human trafficking.

Iminumungkahi rin niya sa iba pang kasapi ng IACAT, tulad ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), na gamitin ang kanilang kapangyarihang magsagawa ng inspeksyon upang suriin kung may mga paglabag sa labor laws, at ang Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na repasuhin ang mga aksyon ng mga opisyal ng barangay na nakakasakop sa lugar.

Nanawagan din siya sa Philippine Commission on Women at sa Philippine Center on Transnational Crime na aktibong makibahagi sa imbestigasyon upang matiyak na matututukan ang lahat ng aspeto.

“Human trafficking is a grave violation of human rights, and those responsible must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” ayon kay Nograles.

Sa kabila ng pagtanggi KOJC legal counsel Israelito Torreon sa pagkakasangkot ng grupo sa human trafficking, iginiit ni Nograles na mahalaga ang pagpapatuloy ng  imbestigasyon upang malaman ang katotohanan.

“The truth must come to light, and if there are any violations of the law, those involved must face the consequences,” giit pa ni Nograles. (END)
