 RPPe Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, former Marikina Rep. Miro Quimbo join Lakas-CMD


Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez today welcomed Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah "Honey" Honrado Lacuna-Pangan and former Marikina Rep. Romero Federico "Miro" S. Quimbo to the fold of Lakas-CMD, the biggest political party in Congress and the country. 


Speaker Romualdez, Lakas-CMD president, administered the oath of membership separately to Lacuna and Quimbo during simple rites held at the Social Hall of the Speaker’s Office in the House of Representatives Tuesday afternoon. 


In his message during the oath-taking ceremony, Speaker Romualdez highlighted the strategic importance of the new members in bolstering the party's support for the programs and policies of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. 


"We are honored to welcome Mayor Honey Lacuna and former Marikina Congressman Miro Quimbo into the Lakas-CMD family," said Speaker Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus strong House of Representatives.


Speaker Romualdez expressed confidence Lacuna and Quimbo would provide significant contributions in upholding the principles and objectives of Lakas-CMD, reinforcing the party’s dedication to serving the Filipino people.


"Their leadership, experience, and commitment to serve our people greatly enhance our collective efforts to support the Agenda for Prosperity of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and his vision for ‘Bagong Pilipinas’,” Speaker Romualdez said. 


Lacuna became the first female Mayor of Manila after winning the 2022 mayoralty race. She started her political career as a member of the City Council in 2004 and was elected as Vice Mayor in 2016. 


Quimbo served as the representative of Marikina's 2nd congressional district from 2010 to 2019 and one of the Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives of the Philippines from 2016 to 2018.


He was accompanied during the ceremony by his wife, incumbent Marikina 2nd District Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo.


In a show of solidarity and support, Manila Vice Mayor Yul Servo and 20 members of the City Council accompanied Lacuna to the oath-taking rites.


Likewise, Manila Reps. Irwin Tieng (5th District), Joel Chua (3rd District), Edward Maceda (4th District), Rolando “Rolan” Valeriano (2nd District), and Bienvenido Abante (6th District) joined Lacuna during the oath-taking rites, serving as witnesses to the event. 


Key officials of Lakas-CMD, including Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe,  Deputy Speaker and Quezon 2nd District Rep. David “Jay-jay” Suarez, and Agusan Del Norte 1st District Rep. Jose. "Joboy" Aquino also witnessed the oath-taking of Lacuna and Quimbo.
