RPPe Speaker Romualdez lauds ‘Young Guns’ of Congress on new TV show about governance, national issues
SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Tuesday congratulated the “Young Guns” in the House of Representatives for the successful launch of their new TV show “Young Guns on the Move,” which will feature the thoughts and views of the young lawmakers on many topics such as governance, their programs, and many more.
Speaker Romualdez, the leader of the 300-plus-strong House of Representatives, lauded the initiative of the Young Guns to bring to a wider audience what he described as a “celebration of youthful vigor and innovative leadership within our nation's legislative body.”
“Natutuwa po tayo at tunay na nag-step up ang ating mga nakababatang mambabatas dito sa Kongreso sa kanilang trabaho para sa bayan at sa kanilang responsibilidad sa kanilang mga kinakatawan. They are not only marking significant strides in their respective roles but are also fearlessly voicing their convictions on matters of national importance,” said Speaker Romualdez.
The show “Young Guns on the Move” was launched Tuesday at the House of Representatives, which Speaker Romualdez said would certainly bring new ideas and bold approaches both to the role of Congress in legislation and in addressing national issues head-on.
It will be aired every Thursday from 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on PTV4, CongressTV Channel 14 in Metro Manila, Channel 46 in GMA Affordabox and Channel 2 on ABS-CBN TVPlus. It will also be streamed on official Facebook pages and YouTube channels of Young Guns of the 19th Congress, CongressTV, and PTV4.
“Isang napakagandang platform ito para sa ating mga kababayan na makita at marinig first-hand ang angking kagalingan ng ating mga nakababatang mambabatas. It is a highlight of participative governance and transparency, dahil mabri-bridge ang gap sa pagitan ng mga congressman at kanilang mga constituents,” Speaker Romualdez said.
The show will also highlight the projects, services and programs that the Young Guns deliver to their constituents and will be an occasion to highlight the beauty of their respective districts.
Each episode will be hosted by a different member or members of the Young Guns, who will take viewers on a tour of their district, showcasing their initiatives and accomplishments; providing insight into the support and services available to constituents; promoting the unique attractions within the district; and featuring the culinary delights and local enterprises that define the area.
The hosts of the program include Speaker Romualdez and Rep. Jude Acidre for Leyte; Senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos for Ilocos Norte; Deputy Speaker David “Jayjay” Suarez for Quezon Province; Reps. Jil Bongalon and Rodge Gutierrez for Albay; Rep. Lordan Suan for Cagayan de Oro;
Rep. Inno Dy for Isabela; Rep. Paolo Ortega for La Union; Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong for Lanao del Sur; Rep. Mika Suansing for Nueva Ecija; Rep. Migs Nograles for Davao City; Rep. Dette Escudero for Sorsogon; Rep. Jay Khonghun for Zambales and Olongapo City; and Reps. Jolo Revilla, Ping Remulla, Aniela Tolentino, AJ Advincula for Cavite.
“Inaanyayahan ko po ang lahat ng ating kababayan na manood at sundan ang mga episodes ng Young Guns on the Move. Magandang pagkakataon po ito para maunawaan natin ang trabaho ng ating mga mambabatas at ang mga programa’t serbisyo na maaari ninyong makuha mula sa kanilang tanggapan,” Speaker Romualdez expressed.
“To the young lawmakers featured in this program, may your paths encourage more young Filipinos to step forward, participate in governance, and contribute to nation-building. Let us all look forward to more innovative and inclusive governance as these young leaders continue to move and shake the pillars of our political landscape,” he continued.
Members of the Young Guns are also a mainstay during daily briefings of the House of Representatives, offering their views on several issues of national and local importance. (END)
