GilBe Dalipe Concerned Over VP Duterte's Silence on President Marcos's SONA Policies on WPS, POGO

House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe has expressed deep concern over the “worrisome silence” of Vice-President Sara Duterte regarding President Marcos's recent policy pronouncements on the West Philippine Sea and the all-out ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) during his third State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Dalipe emphasized the importance of unity in supporting the President's stance, particularly on matters of national sovereignty and public welfare.

"We should all be on the same boat in supporting the President, especially in relation to the West Philippine Sea issue and the controversies surrounding the POGO operations in the country," Dalipe stated. "President Marcos made brave and bold pronouncements during his SONA that were met with widespread approval and applause from the nation. Yet, the Vice-President's utter silence on these crucial issues raises questions about her loyalty to the country."

During his SONA, President Marcos reiterated his administration's strong and unwavering position on protecting the country's sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea, as well as his decision to end POGO operations in the Philippines due to their negative social and economic impacts.

"While everyone is cheering the President for his decisive actions on the West Philippine Sea and POGO, Vice-President Duterte's lack of response is indeed troubling," Dalipe continued. "Her silence not only undermines the collective efforts of our government but also casts doubt on her commitment to the nation's best interests."

Dalipe urged all government officials, including the Vice-President, to publicly support the President's policies and demonstrate a united front in addressing these significant national issues.

"In these challenging times, it is imperative that we stand together and support the President's policies that aim to safeguard our sovereignty and ensure the welfare of our people. The Vice-President's support is crucial in reinforcing our national unity and determination to address these pressing concerns," Dalipe concluded.
