RPPe Cassandra Ong in custody of Indonesian authorities - Fernandez

Santa Rosa City lone district Rep. Dan Fernandez revealed during the House quad-committee (quad-comm) hearing on Thursday that Cassandra Ong is already in the custody of Indonesian authorities.

"We have received a communication coming from Ronalyn Baterna for her supplemental motion for reconsideration. But considering all of the communications that was sent to us as well that Cassandra Lee Ong was already in the custody of the Bureau of Immigration of Indonesia," Fernandez said during a manifestation.

Philippine authorities have yet to confirm Ong's whereabouts at the time of Fernandez's revelation.

"And as a matter of fact our police attache and the PNP (Philippine National Police) Chief is in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration of Indonesia. May I respectfully request that we not consider this motion for reconsideration that was asked by Ronalyn Baterna," Fernandez asked Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, the lead chairman of the Quad Comm.

"At the proper time the committee will decide on the supplemental motion for recon submitted before this committee by Ms. Ronalyn Baterna, our resource person in the issue that the quad-comm is tackling in relation to the POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators)," Barbers replied.

Ong, a businesswoman, had earlier been cited for contempt by the House of Representatives for her failure to attend hearings in connection with the POGO controversy.

Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, who had been linked to illegal POGO operations, reportedly met Ong in Singapore after fleeing the Philippines under the radar of local authorities. (END)
